This destination features a variety of educational sessions and production demonstrations centered on the trend of translating cinematic techniques to live broadcast productions. All sessions and demos are open to all-access badge holders, but off-site bonus programs may require prior registration.
Cine+Live Lab highlights include:
At noon on Wednesday, Oct. 25, NAB Show New York will feature a session focused on the color pipeline. Color Accuracy: From On Set to Post will feature colorist Warren Eagles in conversation with AbelCine Camera Technology Specialist Geoff Smith.
The 1:30 p.m. session will explore Using Fiber Optics To Simplify Cinematic Multi-Cam Productions. Headlined by MultiDyne VP of Products & Western Sales Jesse Foster, delve into how the industry is integrating cameras, including the Sony FR7 and ARRI Alexa 35, into their live multi-cam workflows using fiber optic and power management systems.
At 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Hybrid Broadcast in the Real World will explore use cases and projects involving a blended broadcast-cinema aesthetic and tools at top tech conferences. AbelCine Director of Rental Gabriel Mays will moderate this conversation.
HBO Camera Assessment Screening & Discussion
Also on Wednesday, check out the latest HBO Camera Assessment Series. The project aims to determine the “most appropriate capture system for their productions” at HBO and Warner Bros. Discovery. This round of testing assessed the Sony Venice 2, the RED V-Raptor, the new ARRI Alexa 35 configuration, the Blackmagic Ursa 12K, and many more.

NAB Show New York will then host a hands-on follow-up to the HBO CAS on Thursday, Oct. 26, at 11 a.m. featuring CAS leads Stephen Beres and Suny Behar. They will explain the testing methodology and dive into the technology advancements that changed the style and type of analysis required.
Live Content Capture
Another highlight will be live multi-camera capture of artist Ryan Bauer-Walsh at work. He will paint canvases on Wednesday and Thursday, and the work created during NAB Show New York will be sold, with proceeds benefiting the Ali Forney Center.
Additionally, post-discussion sessions and demos will feature a Sony Venice 2, ARRI Alexa 35, Panasonic AK-PLV 100 and a pair of Sony FR7 camera packages, along with gear from Mark Roberts Motion Control and Vinten, and supporting sponsors Fujinon, LUX, Multidyne and Seagate.
The Cine+Live Lab also includes Cinematic Lighting: The Cinematographer & Gaffer Relationship, scheduled for Thursday at 2:45 p.m. This conversation will feature a DP and a gaffer discussing the significance of effective lighting to cinematic productions.
