FMC Tackles AI Trends
Q&A Series
FMC is trailblazing AI trends. We asked Gary Adcock, Writer, Producer and Visual Artist at Gary Adcock Inc., to share some details about the AI so that you can be prepared to learn more NAB Show New York.
Get your pass for Post|Production World New York and add the sessions to your myNAB Show New York Planner.
What are the biggest trends impacting the community/industry right now?
For post production, the most significant trend is in the overindulgence in AI-specific roles in content creation. People using AI to replace tasks they would rather not do or as an attempt to cut costs
In production, there has to be the growing use of virtual production, where the marriage of game engine technology is driving new looks and achieving new perspectives.
What challenges does the community need to overcome, because of these trends?
Fear is the one thing the community needs to move away from. These changes reflect the mindset of previous great leaps in production and post-production technologies. This happened with DV and then using DSLRs as “movie” cameras and not far from the early transition to non-linear editing.
What’s one thing you wish more media pros knew about?
Tech in general, IP connectivity specifically. People have lost the knowledge of how to create networks, route signals, and to set manual IP addresses to offset some of the issues with DHCP use onset.
What are the top 3 things that attendees should go hunt down on the show floor to expand what they just learned in your sessions?
First, remember that tools announced in Las Vegas at NAB Show should be shipping versions now; go back to see if all that was offered is available in that new software release.
Next, the big European show IBC in September would have had several new announcements. Look for new gear that fits your needs.
Last, I always go out of my way to connect with friends and colleagues in the industry. You should do the same.
What discussions should they be having with the exhibitors?
At the event, participants are encouraged to explore how their new products can enhance production or post-production processes. The vendors present will be able to provide recommendations for the latest and most effective tools for all aspects of streaming and content creation. It’s important to make a specific effort to familiarize yourself with the products before making a purchase or rental decision.
