Teradek’s Prism Mobile 5G, winner of a 2024 Product of the Year award, is getting rave reviews from customers, so we asked Derek Nickell, Product Manager at Teradek Live Production, to share some details about the product so that you can be prepared to see it at NAB Show New York.

Tell me about Teradek Prism Mobile 5G. What challenges is it intended to solve?

Prism Mobile 5G is the next generation of native on-camera bonded encoders.  The Mobile 5G is the smallest camera-back bonded encoder on the market and seamlessly aligns with the operators workflow and existing kit to provide a bonded, UHD capable video uplink directly out of the box.  As with the flexibility of all Prism products, productions can send file-based camera to cloud and live streamed video directly from the device without additional licenses or fees.

What kind of feedback have you heard from customers?

Our customers tell us that the ease of use and flexibility within a single product is the driving purchasing factor.  From stable, bonded live video streams to file based post production workflows, Prism Mobile 5G is the best bang for the buck for production on-the-go.

How do you see Prism Mobile 5G fitting into the market? 

Prism Mobile 5G will replace the physically cumbersome units in the market for a slim, camera-back design that also boasts a sturdy machined aluminum chassis.  As with all Teradek products, we build for the future which is why so many older Teradek products are still in use to this day.

Will NAB Show New York attendees be able to see a demo of Prism Mobile 5G in person?

Yes.  Customers will learn about how they can send live video and recorded clips wirelessly from anywhere they have cell service.  They will also learn that pairing the Prism Mobile with our Core Cloud service will enable them to share, collaborate, and send live streams to any other system they need.

What else should readers know?

Prism Mobile 5G is the central core to our wireless streaming architecture and can be used with the Prism Mobile Backpack to add an additional four, 5G modems.
